You could say the hero in the new music video for alt-J’s “Hunger of the Pine” suffers from the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune.

Featuring a guy running through a forest and getting shot through by arrows, the clip — leading up to the Sept. 22 release of the band’s eagerly anticipated sophomore album, "This Is All Yours" — debuted today.

Alt-J Samples Miley Cyrus on 'Hunger Of The Pine': Listen

Directed by Nabil from a concept by the band frontman Joe Newman, it’s the first U.K. single from the album. The band released what it dubbed the first U.S. single, “Left Hand Free,” last week.

The Hunger Games homage features the voice of another strong woman warrior in Miley Cyrus, whose “I’m a female rebel” line from “4x4,” a track on Bangerz, is sampled throughout the song.

The track is available as a free download to anyone who preorders the album, which comers out on Canvasback/Infectious Music in CD, digital and double-vinyl formats.

The band told NPR last month the song’s title refers to “missing someone — pining — [which] can be a physical pain much like hunger.”
