Pierce Fulton, a Brooklyn-based beatmaker with just over than 11,000 followers to his name on Twitter, has hit the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Twitter Trending 140 with his track "Runaway." The title, which was originally released back in March on Soundcloud and on iTunes (through Cr2 Records), gets its boost thanks to a remix issued by Ansolo.
Ansolo happens to be the stage name of American actor and model Ansel Elgort, who just recently starred alongside Shailene Woodley in the blockbuster hit "The Fault In Our Stars." The soundtrack from the film was a huge success, already becoming the biggest-selling soundtrack for a film released in 2014 (with 157,000 sold to date, according to Nielsen Soundscan).
Elgort also appeared in the film "Divergent," whose soundtrack happens to be the year's second-biggest seller for a movie released in 2014 (it's sold 82,000 to date). Ansolo's music career developed concurrently with his acting career. His first record, "Untie," was released on April 16 through U.K. DJ Tom Starr's label.
"Runaway" subsequently tops the Emerging Artists chart as well, which ranks artists who have yet to appear within the top 50 of the Hot 100. Listen to Fulton's original version of the track below:
