Karen O may be on her way to her first Academy Award.

Nominated for an Oscar in the best original song category for the minimalist "The Moon Song," featured in best picture hopeful "Her," the singer revealed that the breezy track took a decade to come to fruition.

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman previously collaborated with "Her" director Spike Jonze on his 2009 feature "Where the Wild Things Are."

"'The Moon Song' was written and recorded in the most humble of circumstances; at my dining room table, a few paces away from the couch where I read the script for 'Her' for the first time," Karen O has said.

The Hollywood Reporter and Billboard exclusively debut a featurette specially made to highlight "The Moon Song," with footage and key moments from "Her," which stars Joaquin Phoenix, Scarlett Johansson (as the voice of Samantha) and Amy Adams. On Monday evening, Karen O performed atTHR's annual Nominees Night.

"Her," nominated for five Academy Awards (including best original score for indie darling Arcade Fire), has already collected a slew of awards for Jonze's screenplay, including a Golden Globe, WGA Award and Critics' Choice Award. The film was included as part of 2013's top 10 films as determined by the American Film Institute.

Released by Warner Bros., "Her" also stars Rooney Mara and Olivia Wilde.

Last night, Karen O performed at the Hollywood Reporter's annual Nominees Night party in Beverly Hills. She dedicated her multi-song set to Jonze, before distinguished attendees like Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Steven Spielberg, and Snoop Dogg (the evening's DJ). Hosted by Janice Min, the soiree celebrated Oscar hopefuls, building anticipation for March 2's 86th annual Academy Awards.
