KISS will be part of an entertainment lineup that aims to blend Hollywood and NHL stars as part of the warm-weather outdoor game in Dodger Stadium.

"Los Angeles is the premier hub for sports and entertainment in this country, and we are honored to be part of an event that fuses both by rocking the first-ever outdoor NHL game in LA," Simmons said in a statement Thursday.

Simmons and fellow KISS member Paul Stanley are also behind a new arena football team, LA KISS, to debut at the Honda Center in Anaheim.

News of the KISS gig came a day after the 2014 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic on Wednesday in Ann Arbor, Michigan, set an all-time NHL attendance record with 105,491 fans on hand at Michigan Stadium, the league also said Thursday.
