Slipknot, Drummer Joey Jordison Part Ways
The metal act's drummer had been with the band since its inception in 1995.
Slipknot is without its founding drummer, Joey Jordison.
According to a post on the metal act's website, the band and Jordison have gone their separate ways after nearly two decades together. Precise motives for Jordison's departure haven't been confirmed, though the band named "personal reasons" as the reason for the split.
"It is with great pain but quiet respect, that for personal reasons Joey Jordison and Slipknot are parting ways," the band wrote. "We all wish Joey the best in whatever his future holds."
The band confirmed that it will press on despite Jordison's absence, writing that "it is our love for all of you, as well as for the music we create, that spurs us to continue on and move forward with our plans for releasing new material in the next year."
That new material would be the band's first LP since 2008's "All Hope is Gone." It'll also be Slipknot's first release without founding bassist Paul Gray, who died in 2010 from an accidental overdose of morphine and fentanyl.
Jordison should have no trouble finding work if he wants it; the drummer fronted the rock band Murderdolls until earlier this year and has also toured with Korn, Rob Zombie and more.
