Miley Cyrus scored a double victory on the new U.K. sales charts yesterday (Oct. 13), debuting at No. 1 on the singles survey with “Wrecking Ball” and the album list with “Bangerz” (RCA/Sony).
Cyrus is the first artist this year to top the flagship charts simultaneously. “Bangerz” is her third U.K. top ten album, improving on her previous best peak of No. 8 for 2008’s “Can’t Be Tamed.” The new set arrived at the summit ahead of London duo Chase & Status’ No. 2 debut for “Brand New Machine” (EMI/Universal).
Arctic Monkeys’ “AM” (Domino) moved back 4-3 to change places with Kings of Leon’s “Mechanical Bull” (RCA/Sony), as last week’s new entry at No. 1, Haim’s “Days Are Gone” album (Polydor/Universal), fell to No. 5.
