On the album chart, Snow Patrol's "Eyes Open" (Fiction/Universal) climbed back 3-1, returning to the top spot at which it debuted in May.
Beyonce's previous chart-topping success came in Britain came with "Crazy in Love" in July 2003. Snow Patrol also has a good week on the singles chart, as "Chasing Cars" returns to the top 10 at a new peak of No. 7, having dipped 10-12 last week.
Also moving back inside the top 10 was "Voodoo Child" (RCA) by Australian-based dance/pop act Rogue Traders, which climbed 11-9 in its eighth week. "Hey Kid" (Mercury) by Matt Willis, formerly of boy band Busted, jumped 61-11 after its physical release. The song appears in the new British spy movie "Stormbreaker," which stars Ewan McGregor.
Justin Timberlake's "Sexyback" (RCA) debuted at No. 13 on download sales alone, so is likely to be challenging for the top spot following its physical release today. Morrissey's "In the Future When All's Well" (Attack/Sanctuary) was new at No. 17, while Keane's "Crystal Ball" (Universal Island) jumped 65-20.
Elsewhere on the album chart, British pop/rock band the Feeling climbed 10-5 with "Twelve Stops and Home" (Universal Island), while its new single, "Never Be Lonely," debuts at No. 24.
The top new entry on the album chart was OutKast's "Idlewild" (LaFace) at No. 16, while the Rolling Stones' "Forty Licks," re-promoted on TV to mark their current U.K. shows, continued its improvement, 60-25-19.
Christina Aguilera powers to the European Top 100 Albums chart summit with "Back to Basics" (RCA), after No. 1 debuts in the U.K., Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Holland and Ireland. Shakira and Wyclef Jean's "Hips Don't Lie" leads Eurochart Hot 100 Singles for the 14th week in total, the last 12 of them consecutive.
