Kings of Leon is ready to rock the National Hockey League.

The rock band will headline the Molson Canadian NHL Face-Off, held in Montreal, this Oct. 1, kicking off the 2013 NHL season. The four-piece will play a 40-minute set as part of festivities leading up to the game between the Montreal Canadiens and the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Part of the band's set will be featured on the CBC pre-game TV broadcast, "Hockey Tonight," with George Stroumboulopoulos as the concert's emcee. The show will air on CBC at 6:30 EST.

In addition to musical entertainment, the event features prizes and giveaways, interactive attractions and large video screens broadcasting the hockey game once it begins.

The rockers follow in the footsteps of genre mate Three Days Grace, which played the event in 2011.

Kings of Leon's appearance at the event closely follows the release of "Mechanical Bull," the band's sixth studio album, on Sept. 24. Lead single "Supersoaker" has peaked at No. 9 on the Alternative Songs chart.
