R. Kelly performs with musician Thomas Mars of Phoenix onstage during day 2 of the 2013 Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival at the Empire Polo Club on April 13, 2013 in Indio, California.

As if his show-stopping Pitchfork Music Festival performance hadn't confirmed his massive crossover status, this just about seals it.

R. Kelly has released his official remix of Phoenix's "Trying to Be Cool," an album cut from this year's "Bankrupt!" Some of Phoenix frontman Thomas Mars' vocals were left in for balance, but the redo is essentially Kelly's song, new lyrics and all. When he announces, "Remix. Phoenix. Kellz," in the end, you can visualize him dropping the mic in triumph.

"Trying to Be Cool"? Both artists can rest assured they're pretty cool cats.

The somewhat unlikely pair first collaborated at this year's Coachella, when R. Kelly dropped bits of "Ignition (Remix)" and "I'm a Flirt" into Phoenix's "1901" and "Chloroform."
