Free Tickets To the Live 'Battle' Showdown Are Available Now

Hitmaker Taio Cruz will be the host and mentor of Billboard and Chevrolet's 2012 Battle of the Bands concert on May 18 in Las Vegas. Free tickets for the show, which will take place at 8pm PT at the Joint at Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, are available now here.

Cruz, the U.K. pop artist behind the Hot 100 chart-topper "Break Your Heart" and winner of three 2011 Billboard Music Awards for his single "Dynamite," will provide musical advice to the six unsigned finalists -- Florida hip-hop duo After The Smoke, California singer-songwriter Doe Eye, New York pop punk outfit Patent Pending, Texas rockers Saints of Valory, Oregon pop songstress Savannah Outen, and Milwaukee rock band Take The Day -- as they embark on a road trip to the show. Cruz will also act as master of ceremonies for the May 18 head-to-head live battle, which will determine which act wins an appearance at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards.

As previously reported, the 2012 Billboard Music Awards will be aired live from Las Vegas' MGM Grand Garden Arena at 8/7c on ABC. Justin Bieber, Carrie Underwood, Usher, CeeLo Green and Linkin Park are among the artists who have already been scheduled to perform.
The six 2012 Battle of the Bands finalists were whittled down from a Billboard-selected pool of 18 talented unsigned acts from across the U.S., via a public Billboard.com vote in March.
Next week, Saints of Valory, Savannah Outen, Patent Pending, After The Smoke, Take The Day and Doe Eye will road trip to the Las Vegas Battle concert from their respective hometowns in each region of the country. Footage from each act's musical adventures on the road will be posted to Billboard.com/Battle along the way. The number of views each video receives will also be a factor in which up-and-comer wins the competition.
