Death Grips Cancel All Future Tour Dates
"We are dropping out to complete our next album NO LOVE. See you when it's done. (There are no longer any scheduled shows)," the band wrote on both social networking platforms Friday, to an onslaught of comments and replies from upset fans.
Following the announcement, the band did not appear at a one-off show scheduled in their hometown, at the Sacramento Electronic Music Festival on Saturday. Their 30-plus-date summer tour was scheduled to begin May 18 in Dublin, Ireland, wrapping in L.A. on July 1.
Not even the venues where Death Grips were scheduled to play have information on the cancellations, as the Music Hall of Williamsburg tweeted Sunday, "We're still waiting on official word about possible Death Grips cancellation. If show is cancelled we'll issue refunds. Please stay tuned." Death Grips were set to perform there on June 13, following the June 12 kick-off of their North American leg.
A representative for the band has confirmed to Billboard.com that all upcoming tour dates are cancelled, although no further details have been released by the band or the label beyond the Facebook and Twitter posts. The noise-rap trio's sophomore album "No Love" is expected to drop this fall on Epic Records.
