Report: Nicki Minaj Joining 'American Idol'

Ever since Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler stepped down from their "American Idol" judges' chairs, rumors have swirled about which stars will be asked to fill their seats.

The first replacement announced last month was Mariah Carey -- who was confirmed as a judge for the Fox reality show on July 23 -- and now it is being reported that Nicki Minaj will take the second seat.

According to multiple sources at US Weekly, the "Super Bass" singer will be bringing her colorful wigs and bubbly personality to "Idol," but there are a few contracts to sign before it becomes official.

It has also been reported that Nick Jonas and Pharrell Williams are under consideration to judge the series, with US Weekly's sources saying that current judge Randy Jackson will be moved to a mentoring role.

After news first leaked that he was in talks with the show, the youngest Jonas brother tweeted, "The rumors are true... I am being considered to be a judge on American Idol, and it would be a dream come true if it happens," with the hashtag #nickonidol.

Ryan Seacrest is set to return as host for the show's 12th season, which will premiere on Fox in January.
