Justin Bieber's 'Baby' Breaks 800 Million, PSY Close Behind
Beliebers undoubtedly rejoiced this week when the most-watched video on YouTube, Justin Bieber's "Baby," hit a new milestone. The teen's signature track just passed the 800 million views mark since its premiere February 19, 2010, just under 33 months.
But the Biebs should watch his back. PSY and his still red-hot viral video hit "Gangnam Style" is a mere 60 million views behind. With just four months under its belt, "Gangnam Style" could be on the heels of "Baby" very shortly -- especially given it took almost three years for "Baby" to hit the 800 million mark when PSY seems to be approaching that number in a much shorter amount of time.
While Bieber has yet to acknowledge his accomplishment, another one of his videos appears to be destined for YouTube success with his latest, "Beauty And A Beat" featuring Nicki Minaj, at No. 1 on this week's YouTube chart. Wednesday (Nov. 14) the teen star tweeted about the video being on its way to 100 million views with its currently standing just below 80 million. Justin and Nicki's video broke VEVO records upon its release earning 10.6 million views in its first 24-hours.
PSY has already passed the likes of popular videos from Jennifer Lopez ("On The Floor"), Eminem and Rihanna ("Love The Way You Lie"), LMFAO ("Party Rock Anthem"), and Shakira ("Waka Waka (This Time For Africa)") in terms of views.
While PSY is down 2-5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and falls 2-6 on the Social 50 chart, he still is No. 1 on Digital Songs and remains at No. 17 on this week's K-Pop Hot 100. PSY's popularity may be slightly slipping, but most likely not enough to stop him from ultimately snatching the all-time views record.
