Christina Perri Plots Second Album as 'Twilight' Song Enters Charts
Fresh off her "Twilight" track entering the Hot 100 and top digital songs charts, Christina Perri says she has begun work on her second album for Atlantic.
"I have 25 ideas -- songs ready to demo -- and I will get that down to 15," she says. "I'll be picking those in January. Now is the most fun and creative part of the whole experience."

Perri is back on the Hot 100 with "A Thousand Years, Pt. 2" featuring Steve Kazee, the only track on "Twilight Saga -- Breaking Dawn Pt. 2" available for purchase a la carte. It debuted last week on Hot Digital Songs at No. 13 with 70,000 downloads sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Her original solo version, from the "Breaking Dawn: Part 1" soundtrack, cracked the 2 million sold mark last week and is now at 2.1 million. It trails her biggest hit, "Jar of Hearts" from her debut album, "lovestrong."; the single has sold 3.3 million copies.
"I always wanted it to be a duet," she says, "because that's the way I wrote it - part Edward and part for Bella. I got to add a verse and then arrange it with a full orchestra with David Campbell. Being able to re-do it - I was incredibly blown away. When I went to the premiere, it felt more like everyone's song - it's for the whole franchise. I'm really honored."
Unlike the last "Twilight" where Perri -- a confirmed "Twi-hard" -- was attending almost all of the film's pre-release events for a month, she is now resting and prepping for the new album. Her intention is to be in the studio come February and have a single out in April. "I really want to take my time and see where we go," she says. "Real life happens (while you're making a record) and then it's out of my hands."
