Eminem Passes 1 Billion YouTube Views
Eminem has reached a rather unique milestone becoming only the third person ever to have more than one billion views on YouTube, according to Famecount.com. As of Monday (Feb. 21), Eminem had 1,000,163,659 YouTube views.
The rapper joins an elite club with only two other members: Justin Bieber who has 1.3 billion views and Lady Gaga with 1.189 billion views. Famecount.com, a social media fame tracking company, also reports that Eminem is also on track to "dethrone Lady Gaga" as Facebook's top living celebrity.
"At Famecount, we have watched Eminem's social media fame explode over the last 6 months," Daniel Dearlove, founder of Famecount, said in a statement. "Eminem is only the third star in history to achieve 1 billion YouTube views, while on Facebook Eminem looks on course to take the top spot."
"Recovery," Eminem's 2010 release, certainly had a prescient title, with nearly 6 million copies sold worldwide and a Grammy win for Rap Album of the Year. The rapper will follow up a huge 2010 with some high-profile live shows this year, including a headlining slot at Bonnaroo and a rumored performance at Lollapalooza.
The report also suggests Eminem should watch his back or perhaps just his "Love the Way You Lie" duet partner. Coming up strong from behind is Rihanna, who is poised to break the 1 billion YouTube view mark herself in the next few weeks.
