Eminem, B.o.B. Hitmaker Alex Da Kid Launches Record Label
Producer Alex Da Kid, who in the last year has spearheaded such hits as Eminem's "Love the Way You Lie" featuring Rihanna and B.o.B.'s "Airplanes" featuring Haley Williams, is launching his own record label.
The hitmaker announced Wednesday (June 1) that he'll launch KIDinaKORNER through Interscope Records, and its first release will be singer/songwriter Skylar Grey's solo album. Grey worked closely with Alex Da Kid (real name: Alexander Grant) on his aforementioned breakout production work, as well as more recent hits such as Diddy-Dirty Money's "Coming Home," Dr. Dre's "I Need A Doctor" featuring Eminem and Lupe Fiasco's "Words I Never Said." Her solo debut single, "Dance Without You," is set for release on June 7.
"Developing artists that influence and shape popular culture in an authentic way has always been a huge goal of mine," said Alex Da Kid in a statement."Interscope has always been committed to great producers." Added Interscope/Geffen/A&M chairman Jimmy Iovine, "I think in Alex we found one that will be around for a long time."
Alex Da Kid (real name: Alexander Grant) earned four 2011 Grammy Award nominations and won best rap album for his work on Eminem's "Recovery." Most recently, he was also nominated for eight Billboard Music Awards, including Top Radio Song, Top 100 Song, Top Rap Song and Top Streaming Song (Audio). "Love the Way You Lie" spent seven consecutive weeks as No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 last summer.
