Beyonce, Age 29: 'I Always Said I'd Have a Baby at 30'

The royal couple of hip-hop Jay-Z and Beyoncé stand together at the Keep A Child Alive 7th Annual Black Ball in NYC on Sept. 30.

Is there a baby Beyoncé on the way? Not quite, but the singer says her original plan was to be with child at age 30.

Beyonce's '4:' Track-by-Track Review

During a recent CNN interview with Piers Morgan, the superstar expressed her excitement toward getting older, and that her goal has always been to be a mom by the time she hit the big 3-0 -- a birthday she faces this coming September. Watch the full interview below.

"I always said I'd have a baby at 30," the former Destiny's Child member told Morgan. "But I also said I was going to retire at 30. I'm not retiring."

Whether Beyoncé will be taking the plunge into motherhood is anyone's guess, but she certainly feels as though 30 is a fantastic age to live it up. "I feel like 30 is the ideal age, because you're mature enough to know who you are and have your boundaries and your standards and not be afraid or too polite, but young enough to be a young woman," she mused.

Beyoncé: The Billboard Music Awards Q&A

But even if Bey does become an expected mama, she's likely to keep it under wraps for a while. The singer went on to say that she's always aimed to be recognized for her music first, regardless of her age, controversies, or relationship with husband, rapper/mogul Jay-Z. "Jay and I have kind of made a decision that we want to be known for our music and not our relationships or scandals," Beyoncé explained. "But he is amazing."

Beyoncé's 4th studio album, "4," dropped today.
