1000 No. 1s Video Series Day 22:
Maroon 5 Talks About Topping the Hot 100

2011 was the year that Billboard celebrated the 1000th No. 1 song on the Hot 100. As we look back on this year in music, we're celebrating that milestone with a month-long series of videos --- one for each day of December -- chatting with 31 of the hitmakers who rocketed to the top of the chart since its inception in 1958. SEE THE FULL CHART HERE.

On day 22 of our 1,000 Hot No. 1s video series, we move from yesterday's trio of Gloria Estefan ballads -- "Anything For You," "Don't Wanna Lose You" and "Coming Out Of The Dark" -- to more recent mid-tempo pop rock hits we chat with Maroon 5 about their No. 1s, "Makes Me Wonder" and "Moves Like Jagger." "I didn't care about 'Makes Me Wonder.' I didn't think it was going to be a huge hit," Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine says of the song that ruled the top for three week beginning May 12, 2007. But the moment it hit the top, he recalls, was very memorable. "I remember exactly where we were; doing a concert at a small club and our manager came over and said, 'Congratulations. . .' We were all just blown away."

Just over four years later, Maroon 5 (with some help from Christina Aguilera) beat their own record when "Moves Like Jagger" rocked No. 1 for four weeks beginning Sept. 10, 2011. "It was definitely a risk," Levine says. "I'm just happy that everyone likes it."

Be sure to come back tomorrow (Dec. 23) for the next 1000 No. 1s video: T.I. talks about his No. 1s, "Live Your Life" and "Whatever You Like."
