1000 No. 1s: Watch Bobby Brown Chat About Topping The Hot 100

1000 No. 1s Video Series Day 26:
Bobby Brown Talks About Topping the Hot 100

2011 was the year that Billboard celebrated the 1000th No. 1 song on the Hot 100. As we look back on this year in music, we're celebrating that milestone with a month-long series of videos --- one for each day of December -- chatting with 31 of the hitmakers who rocketed to the top of the chart since its inception in 1958. SEE THE FULL CHART HERE.

On day 26 of our 1,000 Hot No. 1s video series, we move from yesterday's '01 hit remake of "Lady Marmalade" by Mya, Christina, Pink and Lil' Kim -- to a late '80s R&B charttopper as we chat with Bobby Brown about "My Prerogative." "We recorded 'My Prerogative' in a project in Harlem. I did the vocal in a bathroom," Brown says of the song's humble origins. "I call it my anthem. For it to be such a memorable song to so many people -- and different generations know the song -- I just feel blessed and I feel grateful that God gave me those words and God allowed us to to make it like we made it."

"Prerogative" spent a week at No. 1 beginning Jan. 14. 1989, knocking Poison's "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" out of the top slot.

Be sure to come back tomorrow (Dec. 27) for the next 1000 No. 1s video: Aerosmith's Steven Tyler talks about the band's No. 1.
