Nine Inch Nails Drop Four Covers for 'Hesitation Marks'

Artist Russell Mills has re-teamed with the group to deliver individual art for each of the album's release formats.

Nine Inch Nails' "Hesitation Marks" will have no shortage of album covers.

The group's new album's individual editions -- digital, CD, deluxe CD and vinyl -- will each receive art from Russell Mills, who was responsible for NIN's "The Downward Spiral" cover.

“This renewed collaboration very quickly suggested massive potential for the strange and the familiar to collide and collude in works that I hoped would encapsulate, by allusion, suggestion, metaphor and association, the conceptual ideas imbued in the album as well as in the undertow of its sonic world,” Mills said in a statement. “I’ve tried to make works that obliquely allude to the essence of the subject matter, to its emotional core. I hope that they will invite multiple readings.”

The artist has also worked with musicians including Brian Eno and Peter Gabriel. NIN's "Hesitation Marks," due Sept. 3, is the band's first album since 2008's the slip, and marks the group's return to major labels after a period of independent releases. The album is due on Columbia, and features usual collaborators Atticus Ross and Alan Moulder.
