Joe and Relient K Heading for Top 10 on Billboard 200 Albums Chart
The R&B singer and rock act could mark returns to the top tier.
R&B singer Joe and rock band Relient K could both earn new top 10 albums next week on the Billboard 200 chart. Industry sources forecast Joe's new "Double Back: Evolution of R&B" may sell 25,000 or so by the end of the tracking week on Sunday, July 7. Meanwhile, Relient K's "Collapsible Lung" could sell around 15,000.
The new Billboard 200 chart's top 10 will be revealed on the morning of Wednesday, July 10.
"Double Back" could mark Joe's sixth top 10 album and his fifth consecutive studio effort to reach the top 10. His last album, 2011's "The Good, the Bad, the Sexy," debuted and peaked at No. 8 with 33,000 sold in its first week, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
As for Relient K, if the set starts in the top 10, it will be just the second top 10 set for the act. They have reached the region once before, with 2007's "Five Score and Seven Years Ago." The new album is not a guaranteed lock for a top 10 debut, and might bow just outside the top tier.
Next week's new No. 1 will likely be J. Cole's "Born Sinner," which will step up to the top slot after spending its first two weeks stuck at No. 2. As previously reported, it may sell around 60,000 copies.
On SoundScan's Building chart (below), J. Cole is No. 1, followed by the current Billboard 200 No. 1 set, Wale's "The Gifted." The Building tally is a precursor to the final Billboard 200 ranking -- reflecting the first four days (Monday through Thursday) of SoundScan's tracking week as reported by six major merchants. Kanye West's "Yeezus" is No. 3, while Joe and Relient K are Nos. 4 and 9, respectively.
As for the rest of the top 10: Florida Georgia Line's "Here's to the Good Times" is No. 5, followed by Imagine Dragons' "Night Visions" at No. 6 and Daft Punk's "Random Access Memories" at No. 7. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' "The Heist" is No. 8 and Bruno Mars' "Unorthodox Jukebox" is No. 10.
