Carly Rae Jepsen Teams With 'American Idol,' Coke, You for New Single

Carly Rae Jepsen is prepping a new catch phrase-laden single for the summer, but is teaming up with Coca-Cola and "American Idol" to help her finish writing it.

Jepsen is the latest artist to become the face of Coke's Perfect Harmony program, which lets fans vote on their favorite lyrics for an original song, tentatively titled "Take A Picture," that Jepsen will perform on the first part of the "Idol" season finale May 15. Previous performers include Taio Cruz in 2011 and Jason Derulo in 2012. The voting starts today at and continues through May 14.

"I'm the type of person who kind of thrives on collaboration," says Jepsen on the phone from Paris, where she's currently on a European tour with Justin Bieber. "I was in the Bahamas and spent probably three days cooped up in my hotel coming up with different ideas for the fans. The hook is 'I'll take a picture of you / taking a picture of me,' and the viewers get to pick their favorite."

Jepsen describes the single as a romantic, "retro summer pop song," and wrote about three of her favorite summer themes that fans can vote upon. "There's a few bits about being lazy, riding bikes – it'll be fun to see which ones people pick, even though I definitely have my own favorite," Jepsen says. In addition to the lyrics, fans can help select everything from which instruments are featured on the song to the theme and effects of the performance to the backup dancers' wardrobe across eight weekly voting segments. Fans who vote will also be entered in a sweepstakes to win exclusive prizes like the Coca-Cola "American Idol" signature cup and speakers and one grand prize of a trip for two to see Jepsen perform on the "Idol" finale in Los Angeles.

Meanwhile, Jepsen has already been testing out her new song's catch phrase on her parents, who recently flew in to share a few days of downtime in Paris. "My parents are so cute, they're taking pictures of the Mona Lisa at the Louvre and I'm taking a picture of them. I find myself cheesily referencing my own song," she says. Of course, Jepsen herself ended up on the other end of more than a few fans' cameras that day, too. "There was a group of schoolkids who were doing a tour at the same time, and once they saw us we had a big game of hide and seek," Jepsen added. "We'd go to one room and they'd chase us, then we'd go to the next one and they'd chase us. I guess that's what happens when you go to the Louvre in the middle of the day."
