Arrest Made in French Montana Bus Shooting
Philadelphia police have arrested a suspect in connection with a shooting last week outside rapper French Montana's tour bus that left one person dead.
Frank Briggs, 20, was taken into custody on Tuesday and charged with murder, attempted murder and aggravated assault, according to NBC 10. Gunfire rang out last Thursday around midnight as Montana and his entourage were exiting a bus in the Penn's Landing area.
Jowann King, 26, of Queens NY, was shot in the stomach and later died of his injuries. Another man was shot in the shoulder but survived. There was other gunfire during the exchange and three other people were taken into custody for questioning.
Montana and his entourage, which included local rapper Meek Mill, remained on the bus during the shootings. The Moroccan-born rapper told investigators that he did not know what was happening outside the bus.
On Friday, Montana told Billboard in a statement that had completed a "peaceful concert" at the Theatre of the Living Arts before things went awry.
"My bus was located in the vicinity of the incident that took place away from the venue, last night in Philadelphia," he said. "I had a peaceful concert and was not involved. My deepest thoughts and sympathies go out to the families of the victims, as well as all of those who were affected."
