Phoenix Teases New Album, 'Bankrupt!'
French synth-rockers Phoenix have confirmed that "Bankrupt!" will be the title of their fifth studio album, due out this spring on Glassnote Records.
The band confirmed the title shortly after a bright red logo featuring the same word along with the band's name appeared on Phoenix's official site. The band has warned epilepsy-sensitive fans against the flashing neon promo soundtracked by a throbbing synthesizer beat, which could come from a new song.
On Dec. 6, Glassnote leader Daniel Glass announced that the quartet had finished recording its long-awaited follow-up to "Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix" in a French studio, and hinted that it would be dropping in April 2013.
The band also announced on they'd be playing their first stateside gig since wrapping up promotion for 2009's "Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix" -- a stop at this spring's New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, which runs April 26-May 5. The group will also perform at the Rock am Ring & Rock im Park festivals in Germany, on June 7-9.
"Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix" won the 2010 Grammy for Best Alternative Music Album, and featured the hit singles "1901" and "Lisztomania."
