Tom Waits will play a rare set Jan. 22 at Los Angeles' Century Plaza Hotel, as part of a benefit for Bet Tzedek Legal Services. Proceeds will benefit the organizations efforts to provide legal counsel for underprivileged citizens.

The show is being hinted at as a precursor to a Waits tour next year. The artist said in a statement, "Somehow we return like the salmon to perform in important towns like Nimrod, Minn.; Square Butt, Mont.; Peculiar, Mo.; or Diagonal, Iowa. We just may be coming to a theatre near you."
