Sunday (Sept. 15) night was a regular one in the Twitter world, filled with some “Boardwalk Empire” and “The Newsroom” HBO spoilers, NFL fodder and other randomness. And then Drake’s forthcoming “Nothing Was the Same” album came (out Sept. 24), via leak.
It’s no secret that the rapper and sometimes singer has a knack for being emotionally available. His latest “NWTS” single “Hold On, We’re Going Home” is about him being completely enamored with a woman that isn’t necessarily being her best self at the moment, reveling in the bad girl nightlife. And that’s just one of several instances where Drake fearlessly lets listeners into the glum, soggy parts of his psyche on this album.
That said, fans have come to love Drake for his vulnerability. Hearing his albums and emotions is a chance to let yours out, too. So it makes sense that Twitter soon exploded with comments of people using “Nothing Was the Same” as a springboard to go full-on emo. Check out 10 of the sad tweets that fell on the funnier side of a completely miserable spectrum.
