Maggie Rogers Talks Performing on 'SNL,' New Music & More at WIM 2018: Watch
Maggie Rogers spoke with Billboard’s Chelsea Briggs and Tetris Kelly on the pink carpet at the 13th annual Women in Music event, discussing her recent SNL performance, what fans can expect from her new album and more.
Speaking of her recent stint on SNL, Rogers tells Billboard that it was an “incredible honor” to step onto that stage. “I’ve got a record coming out in January and to be able to say, ‘Hey, I’m here and I’m ready for this and I finally know what I have to say,’ so much of my career started so quickly with this video of me and Pharrell Williams, and to be able to then two years later say, ‘I’ve got this and I’m ready now,’ the SNL stage, it’s an honor to be there.”
She also chats about her forthcoming album and, when asked what the key message she wants to say with it is, Rogers replies that it is about saying yes.
“It’s an album about change and transition. There’s been so much change in my life, but at the end of the day, it’s saying: here I am. I’m doing this in my way and in my time, and I’m ready,” she explains.
In the video, which you can watch above, Maggie Rogers also chats about touring with Mumford and Sons, and she reveals what she would call a song inspired by her exes.
