Watch Ciara Talk Motherhood: 'It's a Great Challenge That I Don't Think's Ever Gonna Stop'
Ciara danced her way to the top of the charts with her No. 1 breakout hit "Goodies" in 2004. Over a decade later, the musical multi-hyphenate, red-carpet slayer and first-time mom is still handling life like a boss.
"My journey has been a very fun one because I've chosen to make the best of every challenge that I've had along the way no matter what," she recently told Billboard backstage at the 2015 Women in Music event before presenting the Innovator award to Missy Elliott.
Last May, the songstress welcomed her first baby boy named Future Zahir Wilburn and took on the role of "mom," a title she adores.
"Juggling being a mom and an entertainer is a challenge I face every day," she said. "The great thing is that I love both jobs. Being a mom to my son has taken precedence over everything in my life and I think that's the order it should be. ... It's a great challenge that I don't think's ever gonna stop."
CiCi continues to maintain a bubbly demeanor, even while looking back on her solo hardships as an artist.
"When I first started, I started out in a group and that didn't quite work out," she recalled. "Then we tried to audition for a label and we didn't make it together, but then I was fortunate enough to pursue my solo career. But even that process, I still had to keep on trying to find my creative voice."
Now, with a string of smashes like "1, 2 Step" and "I Bet," safe to say, problem solved. Watch what drives Ciara below:
