Bebe Rexha Talks Wanting to Collaborate With Kanye West, Donatella Versace's Influence on Music at the 2016 VMAs

She's already worked with artists like Nicki Minaj, Eminem and G-Eazy -- now, Bebe Rexha hopes to expand her collaborator list to include rapper Kanye West

"I just think he's so innovative and he takes risks," she told Billboard on the white carpet at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night (Aug. 28). "I'm such a big fan of his music. That's what I've always aimed to be and I never want to follow mainstream radio, that's always kind of been my motto."

Rexha -- who also penned Eminem and Rihanna's Hot 100 chart-topper "The Monster" -- adds, "When I wrote "The Monster" the first time with Jon Bellion, when I played it for people -- "The monster under my bed" -- this will never work. Even with [G-Eazy's] "Me, Myself and I" and "Hey Mama," I find that you can't follow mainstream and I love that about Kanye. He takes risks and I take risks."

While shimmering in a custom-made diamond two-piece number, the singer/songwriter also discussed veteran fashion designer Donatella Versace's impact on the music industry. "Donatella Versace has been a renegade," Rexha gushed. "Just an incredible, artistic person. She does what she wants 'cause she's a bad bitch."
