Nick Jonas was a 2016 MTV Video Music Awards performer, but he didn't exactly perform at the 2016 VMAs. Unlike the evening's other performers, who kept within the confines of Madison Square Garden, Jonas stepped outside MSG and into the kitchen to sing his sexy, sizzling Ty Dolla $ign collab "Bacon."

Grabbing a plate of bacon from the real-life kitchen of midtown New York City restaurant Tick Tock Diner, Jonas ascended a flight of stairs to croon his Last Year Was Complicated tune to a diner full of fans, patrons and even a few celebrities -- including A$AP Ferg and DNCE, the band that includes his brother Joe Jonas.

Stepping outside Tick Tock Diner mid-song, Jonas handed the spotlight to Ty Dolla $ign, who delivered his verse between two lowriding cars bouncing up and down on 34th St. and 8th Ave. Jonas then took an outdoor stage to finish off his "Bacon" outside MSG, where it seemed like his journey had come to a close… until he hopped aboard the trailer of a semi to keep his highly mobile VMAs performance going.

Hands down, Jonas boasted one of the most fascinating performances of the 2016 VMAs… at least, until Beyonce's. He might not have been up for any of the awards on Sunday (Aug. 28) night, but he stole the show regardless.
