Oscars 2018: Pink, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and More React
The 2018 Academy Awards was packed with glamour, dazzling performances, moving speeches and enough gags and drama to fill news bulletins for the next couple days. It was everything we’ve come to expect from Hollywood's big night.
The favorites prevailed on Sunday (March 4) and, unlike last year, the Oscars reached its climax without a spectacular blunder.
Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway proved that history doesn’t always repeat when they were invited back to present the Oscar for best picture. This time there was no mistake, no "Envelopegate" as the veteran actors correctly announced the winner, The Shape of Water. “Presenting is lovelier the second time around,” Dunaway quipped.
In the night's big categories, Guillermo Del Toro won best director for his work on The Shape of Water, while Gary Oldman was named best actor for Darkest Hour and Frances McDormand claimed best actress for Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (her rousing acceptance speech was one of the major highlights). In the music categories, The Shape of Water (Alexandre Desplat) won for best original score and "Remember Me" (Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez) from Coco nabbed best original song
The 90th Academy Awards were held Sunday (March 4) at the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center and were telecast live on ABC.
Artists and celebs watching on at home soaked up the experience and shared their thoughts on social media, while the likes of Miley Cyrus, Zedd and Diplo posted selfies from the scene. Check out some of the reaction below.
So wonderful to watch the joy of all these artists shine on that beautiful stage tonight. We are so lucky to have art in the world #Oscars— Lady Gaga (@ladygaga) March 5, 2018
an inclusion rider is something actors put into their contracts to ensure gender and racial equality in hiring on movie sets. We should support this for a billion reasons, but if you can't find a reason to, here's one: it will make movies better.— Whitney Cummings (@WhitneyCummings) March 5, 2018
Watching the Oscars is so hard for me. I hate when people lose. Very happy for the winners but this is why I can’t watch football either . I cry when the team I want to win wins.— P!nk (@Pink) March 5, 2018
