The stylist-turned-designer gives us the details on the Oscar nominee’s elegant white jumpsuit.
Lady Gaga’s white pantsuit was one of last night’s most talked about red-carpet looks, but for Brandon Maxwell, the star’s longtime stylist who also launched his own women’s collection last year, it was also the cherry on top of a long season of elegant ensembles that have made the star one of the most stylish on the red carpet.

For the Oscars, Maxwell designed five custom looks for Gaga, but they didn’t choose a final option until the day before the show. The winner was a variation of a white jumpsuit that the designer included in his Fall 2016 collection, which he showed at New York Fashion Week earlier in February. “We always approach all of our projects together very naturally,” Maxwell told Billboard after the Oscars. “It starts with a discussion, she tells me how she sees herself looking on the red carpet, and then we go back and forth on the design and fits.”
