Lil Xan Talks XXXTentacion, Wanting to Spread 'Positive Energy' Through His Music: Watch

During his conversation with Billboard’s Chelsea Briggs at the Hot 100 Festival on Saturday (Aug. 18), Lil Xan shared memories of the late rapper XXXTentacion and spoke about how he wants there to be more love and positivity in the rap community.

When asked what he wants people to take away from his music, Lil Xan answered, “Positive energy, all positive energy. Rest in peace to [XXXTentacion]... He was in the midst of transitioning into changing the world for the better, and I think all of us as rappers should just stop with all this beef s--t and just spread love, positivity… Love’s all that matters.”

On the subject of XXXTentacion -- who was fatally shot during an armed robbery earlier this summer -- Lil Xan spoke about his tattoo inspired by the late rapper. “We both have tracks called ‘Moonlight’ -- I like his a lot better,” he shares. “So I thought it’d be cool to get ‘moonlight’ and then get the day, unfortunately, we lost a legend, June 18.”

Lil Xan also opened up about his hopes for less negativity in the rap world, noting that everything is getting “so vicious” and that it is not stopping. “We also lost Jimmy Wopo on the same day as X,” he says, “And it’s like, damn man, everybody’s either dying, overdosing… That is what I’m trying to get out of this music… I’m trying to get people off [drugs], and I have my own demons… and my fans know that. I’m an open book.”

As for what advice he would give to anyone battling the same demons he has, Lil Xan tells Billboard, “It gets better, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel. It may take one day, it may take ten years. But one day you will find happiness if you manifest it. Put that energy out, and it’ll come back.”
