As the rain finally subsided, a clear and gorgeous night descended on Long Island for the final sets of the second-annual Billboard Hot 100 Festival. And who better to close out the W Hotel's Next Up stage than Desiigner, the clear breakout hip-hop star of the first half of 2016 on the strength of his No. 1 Hot 100 hit "Panda."

But these days, of course, Desiigner has a second hit, "Timmy Turner," the Mike Dean-helmed song that came out of his 2016 XXL Freshman freestyle which turned into a top 40 Billboard Hot 100 hit. And that's the song he came out with when he finally hit the stage, after an extended set from his DJ that included the latest G.O.O.D. Music single "Champions."

The young MC wasted little time getting into his now-patented overly-energetic set, almost immediately diving into the crowd for his first of many crowd surfing sessions. His trilled ad-lib was almost ubiquitous during his quick set, and "Make It Out" -- a song from his debut mixtape New English -- an actually sobering song, was another banger in the hands of Kanye's latest protege.

But the crowd was there for his biggest hit, "Panda," which he jumped into just after he ripped off his shirt. "I love everybody so much in this motherfucker" he said before jumping into the crowd yet again, with the crowd returning his energy. He then launched into "Freestyle 4" -- the second of his contributions to Kanye West's The Life of Pablo -- and then "Pt. 2," which was essentially "Panda" again.

Desiigner knew what the fans needed, and delivered just that.
