Fetty Wap & Monty at Hot 100 Fest 2016: Sophomore Album Has 'A More Mature Sound'
Before Fetty Wap and frequent collaborator Monty hit the Hot 100 Fest stage on Saturday (Aug. 20), the pair took a minute to update Billboard about what’s in the pipeline.
Fetty Wap, whose 2016 return to the festival featured crowd favorites like “My Way” and “Trap Queen,” gave a (somewhat vague) timeline of when fans will get their hands on his next album, the follow-up to his self-titled debut: “I’m shooting for soon … Before the end of the year.”
“I just been in the zone lately,” he told Billboard. When asked about the sound of the music that’s yet to come, he said, “It’s definitely still the party sound … That’s how we do … But it’s just more mature now, definitely a more mature sound.”
“On this album, I tried to steer myself away from ‘Trap Queen’ because I didn’t want people to put me in the category of just ‘Trap Queen,’” he added.
