Billboard Hot 100 Fest: Fetty Wap Brings Out Monty & Monster Hits, Promises New Album
On an already scorching day (Aug. 20) at the Nikon at Jones Beach Theater for Billboard's Hot 100 Fest, New Jersey rapper Fetty Wap brought the heat with a set list filled with fan favorites.
Launching with the hit single "RGF Island," Zoovier had the crowd Wiz Khalifa high, setting off smoke streams while sprinkling in his signature "1738" ad-libs.
"I got some new shit for y'all. This shit finna be fire," he said before delivering one of his most recent offerings "Wake Up." The visual for the motivational anthem attracted controversy when Wap returned to his alma mater, East Side High School in Paterson, New Jersey, and featured strippers and weed references.
Clad in white pants, red boxers and several chunky chains, the shirtless rapper catered to the crowd with cuts like "Trap Luv" and "D.A.M. (Dats All Me)." He then let his frequent collaborator and RGF Productions signee Monty take the spotlight as he performed hype anthems like "Remy Cup" and "Cash Green."
Fetty returned with a turnt medley of his biggest collaborations including Fifth Harmony's "All In My Head (Flex)," Kid Ink's "Promise" and Lil Dicky's "$ave Dat Money." He also delivered a live rendition of his new single "Different Now" and wrapped it with a teaser: "New album on the way."
The set would not be complete without a live rendition of his monster hits "My Way," "Again," "679" and "Trap Queen." All four tracks helped the New Jersey rep make history on the Hot Rap Songs chart last year, when he became the only artist to place his first four charting singles in the top 10 of that chart. Telling by the crowd's uproarious reaction, every concertgoer was an official member of Fetty's squaaaa.
