Go Behind the Scenes With Conrad Sewell at the Hot 100 Festival

The inaugural Billboard Hot 100 festival was special for many reasons. For singer-songwriter Conrad Sewell, the event was especially memorable, as it marked his very first festival performance. And just to make sure his personal milestone left a lasting impression on the crowd of thousands at the Nikon Jones Beach Theater, Sewell managed to take the stage twice -- once for his afternoon solo set, and again during Kygo’s main stage performance to sing the pair’s collaborative hit, “Firestone.”

“I’d just like them to feel like they really felt it in their hearts,” said 26-year-old Sewell of the impact he hoped to leave on the Hot 100 crowd. “Even after they’ve seen The Weeknd or Justin Bieber, [I hope] they walked away being like, ‘That Conrad show -- there was something special about that.'”

As he’s proved with his debut singles “Hold Me Up” and “Start Again,” both of which got great receptions when he performed them on the Hot 100’s Samsung Level U stage, Sewell is a headliner-in-the-making with impressive vocal chops and formidable songwriting skills. Sewell’s appearance at Hot 100 was presented by the Patch. Created by Sour Patch Kids, The Patch supports touring musicians by providing them with houses in Austin and Brooklyn, N.Y., that fuels inspiration and immerses them into a community of like-minded creatives.
