Billboard Greatest of All Time

On the afternoon of his last tour date opening for Taylor Swift, Mendes gave Billboard his list of his top 5 favorite teen music stars of all time. The first three were easy for him, but being put on the spot he had a bit of trouble coming up with the final two. “How many do I have, three? These questions are difficult,” he laughs.

Here they are -- subject to change, if he’s ever asked this again.

1. Taylor Swift
“I’m going to start off with No. 1, Taylor Swift. She’s the best person ever. I’m pretty sure she’s probably the epitome of what a music star can be -- and also it’s really cool being on tour with her.”

2. Justin Timberlake.
"He’s the MAN. I really look up to him. [sings] Justin Timberlake.”

3. Alessia Cara
“Have you heard of Alessia Cara?  She’s great. Yeah, I’m very proud of her. So her.”

4. Elvis
“Elvis must’ve been 17 actually or was he in his young 20s? I don’t know. Put Elvis down.”

5. Jonas Brothers
“Jonas Brothers. I love them. Definitely. I love those guys.  I’m close with Nick, actually.”
