The Selena Gomez/Zedd Single Will Likely Come Out in February, Says Ryan Tedder
"Selena did a bang-up job. She killed it," says Tedder of the hotly anticipated new track.
Selena Gomez and Zedd have been sharing some studio time (is that what the kids call it these days?) over the past month, and while the collaboration between the pop star and EDM whiz does not have an announced release date, Ryan Tedder (who worked on the as-yet-untitled track) believes that fans will get to hear it before the end of the month.
On the red carpet at the Clive Davis pre-Grammys party on Saturday night (Feb. 7), the OneRepublic frontman and pop producer/songwriter told Billboard, "The new Zedd/Selena record that has been buzzing about? That's my song!" After working with Zedd on his Clarity album track "Lost at Sea," Tedder has maintained a good relationship with the producer, and called him up when he had a random idea for a track.
"He crushed it," says Tedder of the "Stay The Night" and "Clarity" producer. "I went on a run today and listened to it on repeat in my headphones. And Selena did a bang-up job. She killed it."
While Tedder doesn't know exactly when the song will come out, he coyly shared, "I'll leave it at this: I have a good feeling you might hear it before the end of the month."
Meanwhile, Tedder is enjoying Grammy weekend as a nominee for album of the year for his work on Beyonce's self-titled studio album. Tedder co-wrote the song "XO" on Beyonce, and couldn't be happier to see his "Halo" diva shine with the innovative project.
"She did it 100 percent on her terms," says Tedder of Beyonce. "It was a huge, huge risk that, in my opinion, paid off and shocked the world."
