Juicy J could be hitting No. 1 in the country due to his guest spot on Katy Perry's "Dark Horse," and the rapper is still shocked he was even featured on the song.
"The producer, Dr. Luke, called me up and was like, 'Yo, Katy Perry wants to feature you on a song.' I was like, 'Are you serious?'" the Academy Award-winning artist told Billboard on the red carpet at Sunday's GRAMMYs. But once he got over the initial excitement of getting asked to appear on a Perry tune, the rest, he said, was "history" -- that is, after an impromptu studio visit following the initial recording of his verse.
"I did my verse in the studio, and then [Dr. Luke] called me said, 'Hey man, she wants you to change up a couple bars, so she wants to meet you in the studio,'" he explained. "So I jumped in my car, drove fast as I could to get to the studio. I got to the studio before she came. I fixed up all the bars, she came in, [and] she loved it. The rest is history. She's super professional. She's a genius."
