Billboard is on the scene as chart-topping musicians and big-time industry execs celebrate GRAMMY week at L.A.'s most exclusive events

The GRAMMY Awards won't be handed out until Sunday night (Jan. 26), but the GRAMMY-week parties are already in full swing. Stay tuned to this page as we give you real-time updates on L.A.'s biggest and most star-studded events  -- including the Clive Davis Pre-GRAMMY Gala, featuring performnces by Miley Cyrus, Jennifer Hudson, Lorde and more. 7:05 pm -- Ready and waiting for the action in lobby of the Beverly Hilton.  A dapper T.I. walks on in wearing a black glittery jacket, jeans and shades.

7:09 pm -- Guests for Clive Davis’ annual Pre-Grammy Gala have started rolling in. David Letterman's MD Paul Shaffer strolls past. 

7:14 pm -- Miguel
and new manager Troy Carter are in Clive’s house. Right behind them is Tonight Show MD Rickey Minor.

7:20 pm -- It's a flood on the Clive carpet: Foo Fighters' Dave Grohl, Sony ATV's Marty Bandier, Jimmy Jam, Bart Weiss, Earth, Wind & Fire's Verdine White and Ralph Johnson, Smokey Robinson, Joan Collins and sister Suzanne, Kris Kristofferson, Warner Chappell's Jon Platt...

7:39 pm -- Gloria Estefan chatting with Dave Koz. Producer and Verve chief David Foster, Motown founder Berry Gordy, artist Jessie J. Everyone is coming on through.

7:52 pm -- The 2014 Pre-GRAMMY Gala & GRAMMY Salute to Industry Icons event is seriously warming-up at the Beverly Hilton. Kathy Griffin walks the red carpet and has a chat with her pal Gloria Estefan. Miley Cyrus walks by and -- WHACK!!! -- slaps Griffin on her behind. Cheeky.

7:56 pm -- John Legend and his wife arrive at Clive's party. Robin Thicke is here, and Paula Patton is looking gorgeous in red.  Lifetime achievement honoree Ronald Isley, Pharrell Williams being greeted by Russell Simmons and Pepsi's Frank Cooper.

8:04 pm -- Now inside the ballroom and watching Neil Diamond talk to producer and former artist Peter Asher.

8:19 pm -- Chimes were sounded earlier but no one's sitting down yet. Just spotted: Jane Fonda and Richard Perry.

8:35 pm -- Waiters pulling uneaten salads and bringing chicken entree while many people are atill talking. Party poopers.

8:41 pm -- The big shots are coming together. Motown founder Berry Gordy chats with Sony/ATV chairman Marty Bandier.

8:45 pm -- Legendary New Orleans Preservation Hall Band warms up the crowd for the Nielsen Entertainment party at the Mondrian on Sunset. 

8:56 pm -- Singer Goapele arrives at the Primary Wave party wearing a white dress and showcasing her new short blonde hair.

9:03 pm -- Primary Wave artist Trevor Jackson arrives with singer Zendaya.

9:13 pm -- Goodie Mob's Big Gipp walks through the Primary Wave party.

9:19 pm -- Dessert dishes cleaned away and show begins at Clive's party, with Imagine Dragons playing acoustic.

9:28 pm -- Cee Lo Green greets a large group in the Primary Wave VIP area. His section is in the back of the venue. He and his date are wearing all white.

9:36 pm -- Lionel Richie takes everyone for a wander down memory lane. He starts with "Easy," follows with "All Night Long".

9:59 pm -- Recording Academy president/CEO Neil Portnow presents award to Universal chairman/CEO Lucian Grainge.

10:06 pm -- Over at the Primary Wave party, and Melissa Etheridge is outta here.

10:09 pm -- The man Clive Davis now onstage after being introduced by Beats guru Jimmy Iovine.

10:12 pm -- After doing shout-outs to Quincy Jones and Joni Mitchell, Clive brings Macklemore and Ryan Lewis to the stage. The audience is up and dancing to "Thrift Shop." And now "Can't Hold Us."

10:16 pm -- Chaka Khan arrives at the Primary Wave party. She heads straight to Cee Lo's VIP area, where she receives a warm welcome.

10:31 pm -- More shout-outs  at Clive's party: Rihanna, Metallica, Jamie Foxx. Onstage now is A Great Big World performing "Say Something."

10:45 pm -- Clive asks everyone to sing "Happy Birthday" to Alicia Keys

10:50 pm -- R. Kelly takes the stage at Clive's party. He's accompanied by African-garbed dancers and drummer, and a choir. He sings a song he wrote in tribute to the former South African president Nelson Mandela, who passed away last month.

10:50 pm -- Billboard catches up with Primary Wave CEO/founder Larry Mestel. He calls writer/producer Roccstar and Trevor Jackson "the future" of the label.

11:12 pm -- Back at Clive's bash, Jennifer Hudson joins Creedence Clearwater Revival for a churchy version of "Proud Mary."

11:30 pm -- A sedately dressed Miley Cyrus -- in beige fluffy knee-length coat and white satiny mini dress -- belts out "Get It Right" then "Jolene." She's closing now with "Wrecking Ball."

11:53 pm -- Pharrell hits the stage for two songs. He's joined by Jennifer Hudson to perform her new number, "Can't Describe" with T.I.  Now T.I., Pharrell and Robin Thicke have people on their feet for "Blurred Lines."  Just a moment ago, energy was lagging as folks were heading for the exit. Now it's revved back up. 


12:08 am -- Clive says we're down to the last two performers of the night. The first is Lorde, singing of course "Royals."  Also, just spotted in the house in back of ballroom: Stevie Wonder.

12:12 am -- Ne-Yo speaks to Billboard at the "Pre-Grammy Brunch."  His focus is on his new album, which goes back to Ne-Yo's "R&B roots." There's no title or release date yet.

12:16 am -- Will Smith and Dwayne Martin spotted in the VIP area.

12:23 am -- Back at Clive's party. Clive says he asked the next performer to give up one night on Broadway to fly here and sing tonight.  It's Fantasia doing "Stormy Weather" from "After Midnight."

12:33 am -- Clive's party ends with 1994 videotape of Whitney Houston doing a medley of three songs at the American Music Awards:  "I Loves You Porgy" to "And I Am Telling You" to "I Have Nothing."

12:46 am -- Clive bids good night. Prior to the clip, he tells guests he's working on a Whitney Houston live album: "I don't want anyone in this room or the world to forget her legacy as the greatest contemporary singer."

12:25 am -- At Ne-Yo's Pre-Grammy Brunch, Mack Wilds dances in the VIP section. And poses for a Billboard photo.

1:00 am -- Video director Chris Robinson spotted talking and laughing with friends at Ne-Yo's party.
