Before a new crop of GRAMMYs are handed out, hear from past winners about what it's like to receive the coveted honor.

Rob Thomas won GRAMMYs for both record of the year and song of the year for 1999's “Smooth,” a song with Carlos Santana.

Rob Thomas: “You’re so used to hearing other bands’ names that when your name is called it’s a surreal thing. You look around to make sure you’re not wrong. Then you go up there and Bono is handing you a Grammy and saying, ‘Here, Rob.’ And I’m like, ‘Bono knows my name?'”
