As part of Billboard's Fan Army Face-Off 2015, we've asked people to write about what being part of the fandom means to them. Read below for an essay from a 5 Seconds of Summer fan, who are part of the 5SOS Fam.

Unlike many fandoms, fans of 5 Seconds of Summer do not have a name. Instead, we are called the 5SOS Fam, and true to the name, we are like a family. There is such a strong sense of community within our fandom, as people from all over the world come together to share their love for the band and the music. The 5SOS Fam is known to be incredibly passionate and proactive. If there’s an award that the boys are nominated for, we will all spend all of our time voting, and in most cases, we will end up winning due to our determination and compassion for the boys. The band has brought together people from all corners of the the globe, and many people have kindled lifelong friendships through their support of the band.

The fam is incredibly supportive of the boys, and will stick with them through thick and thin. We do enjoy a bit of banter and love to mess with the band, but in the end, we will always express our adoration for 5SOS and each other, be it on social media or in person. There is nothing quite like attending a 5SOS concert. You are surrounded by thousands of people screaming the lyrics to your favorite songs who share the same love for the band, and you can turn to virtually anyone in the arena and instantly become friends.
