To accomodate the change in format, Billboard has also reduced the number of awards it will hand out this year, from 21 awards in 2018 to just 10 awards this year. It's a temporary change as we develop our new format with the goal or being more inclusive with new initiatives to honor cross-section of the music industry.
Comedian Roy Wood Jr. from The Daily Show with Trevor Noah will return this year to host Billboard Live Music Awards, bringing his “charismatic crankiness” to the star-studded evening, that includes top honors for P!nk, the female solo artist to accept Billboard's Legend of Live Award, as well as Billboard’s first ever Tour of the Year award. Also being honored is Hootie and the Blowfish, who will accept Billboard's first ever Tour of the Summer award for the success of their 2019 Group Therapy tour.
