Here's What Happened at the 2017 Billboard Touring Conference & Awards

This year's Billboard Touring Conference and Awards made its return to Los Angeles on Nov. 14-15, honoring the top achievers in the industry based on Billboard’s Boxscore chart data that tracks gate receipts for music, comedy and other live events.

The conference included a series of panels featuring the likes of country power couple Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, DJ/producer Diplo and rapper Lil Dicky.

"We want a fair ticket price," Hill said during her panel. "We absolutely do not forget what it means to spend money on a ticket to come out and see a show."

Another huge topic discussed at this year's event is the issue of gun violence during live shows. Director J.J. Abrams spoke as a representative of the organization Everytown for Gun Safety. Abrams shared the statistic that "every day more 90 Americans are killed due to gunfire." X Ambassadors frontman Sam Harris echoed, "We have to, as artists, make sure that our fans are reminded that if we are not afraid to be there performing for them again then they shouldn't have to be afraid to be there either."
