J Balvin Calls Cardi B the 'Most Crazy and Lovely Girl' at the 2018 AMAs: Watch

J Balvin stopped to chat with Billboard’s Chelsea Briggs on the red carpet at the 2018 American Music Awards on Tuesday (Oct. 9), discussing the highlights of his year so far, his forthcoming joint album with Bad Bunny and working with Cardi B.

When asked what the best part of 2018 has been for him, Balvin tells Billboard, “The fact that I’ve got health is the most important one, definitely. But I’m so grateful for all the blessings, [and] I honestly think that it’s just the beginning.”

Balvin and Briggs then chat about the singer’s collaborative album with Bad Bunny that is said to be in the works, with the rumored title of Oasis. “That’s my brother. I love him,” Balvin says of Bad Bunny.

Asked what fans can expect from the project, Balvin says, “It’s kind of a surprise in a way, because we haven’t said that it’s official.”

In the interview, Balvin is also asked which Latin artists he looked up to when he was younger, naming Ricky Martin, Celia Cruz, Daddy Yankee, Marc Anthony, and Jennifer Lopez.

As for working with Cardi B, Balvin calls her “amazing,” adding, “She is such a character. I think she’s the most crazy and lovely girl…she’s so real.”
