Macklemore & Ryan Lewis have a new album on the way. We’ve already heard “Downtown”; at the American Music Awards, the Seattle duo unveiled another new song called “Kevin.”

Following an introduction from Ridiculous 6 stars Taylor Lautner and Terry Crews, the song performance opened with Macklemore alone onstage at the mic, backed by black and white visuals of a stormy sky. By the time a small orchestra revealed itself, it was clear this was going to be a heavy one.

“Kevin” is a serious song about the perils of prescription pill addiction, name-checking the likes of Adderall and Xanax. And for the chorus, retro R&B crooner Leon Bridges snagged the spotlight for a somber guest part. “Put down the pen and look in my eye,” Bridges sang.
