The first-time AMA nominees (they were included in the Artist of the Year and Best Pop Rock Duo or Group categories) didn’t look like rookies while rocking out to their breakout hit, which peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100. Even the stage was lit with pop art and pyro.

The Ohio-based group admitted having a case of pre-show jitters on the E! red carpet. “A lot of the artists that will be in the audience are our idols,” they said. Scan the room, though, and the likes of Scooter Braun and Ariana Grande were busting a move in their seat.
