Lady Gaga Honors Alexander McQueen at Brit Awards
Gaga dedicated her medley of "Telephone" and "Dance in the Dark" to recently deceased U.K. fashion designer Alexander McQueen, whom she referred to as a kindred spirit, as well as a close friend. "I love when I can wear his clothes and sort of synthesize for my fans what it means to me, because I want them escape through his clothes the way that I do," she told CNN, ironically on the day before his suicide.
Though she originally threatened to wear nothing but a black leotard during the performance, Gaga -- who sported a towering beehive wig and a lace Phillip Treacy mask -- could not resist making another a daring fashion statement on stage.
Gaga went on to win several awards throughout the night, including International Female Solo Artist, Best International Album and International Breakthrough Artist.
