Directed by Floria Sigismondi (who also directed Perry's "E.T." video), the clip chronicles the story of lovers -- painters played by Perry and actor Diego Luna -- torn apart by a tragic car crash. Watch below.
The bulk of the storyline is set in the past, as a sad and aged Perry relives her intense (and surprisingly hipster-y) romance with Luna. The beautifully-shot video, her sixth from "Teenage Dream," ends with an even more heartbreaking song: Johnny Cash's sobering version of "You Are My Sunshine."
But really, the main takeaway here is: This is how Katy Perry might look when she's 75. Could be worse.
"The One That Got Away" vaults 34-18 on this week's Hot 100; if the track climbs to No. 1 on the chart, it would mark the sixth single to do so from Perry's sophomore album "Teenage Dream" and set the record for most Hot 100 No. 1s from a single album.
Perry appeared on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" this afternoon to premiere the video, announce a free concert, and talk babies.
